Personal essays come from the heart and that makes it a little easier to write. It is something that has impacted your life and you want to write about it. This quote for me is really easy to understand. Reading is so crucial for writers because that is how they going to learn. Reading is something you do to learn things. If writers did not read, then writers could not write. This is how the writers learn and are able to make their pieces of work even better. I believe that reading is vital for every write to take to time to do.
3. My favorite piece of writing was the scary story we wrote. I was able to find out that I had another side of me that I could write. I usually write about happy things, but this piece was about sadness. This should me I can write anything I want. I believe that my favorite genre was poetry because the words just seem to flow on to the page. I always hated poetry, but now after this class I really like it. The biggest challenge that I faced was the play because I had never written a play. It was hard to fit the required pages at first, but then everything finally came together. There was not really any piece that I did not care for. I like them all. They all had some kind of special meaning. I think that I will use the skills of writing poems and plays. 1. One principle that guides my life is to always take it a day at the time. You never know what life is going to throw at you. It is very important know in my life because I really learned that you have to just handle things as they come. You can plan ahead, but sometimes things don’t always work out. You take little steps in life. Everything will always work out. You just have to wait and be patient. I have to let God lead my life and I know because of him everything will be fine. This is my guidelines for me.

2. When my dad had a triple bypass, I learned that you have to be thankful for what you have. The little things in life really mean something to you when you go through this. Even though it happened on my birthday, it was the best gift I could ever receive because he did not die. I learned through this whole process to be thankful for the people around you. This experience really changed my life.

3. Something I hope to accomplish in the New Years is to be grateful for what I have. I feel with my dad this is gift that God has given me and him second chance at life. Reaction

I think it is really cool that you showed us these sites. I did not know where to go in Minnesota to get my play looked at. I think these sites where very intesting to look at.

Toward the Future/From the Past

1. I found my play to be hard to write at first, but after I started writing the lines just started coming out on the paper. A pleasant suprises that I found was how fun it is to actually right a play. One thing that I really found frustrating was the length requirenment. It first it was really hard to get to five pages, but then it all just started to fit together. I found this experience really fun and I would do it again.

2. I think that some ideas are my horses, sister, running away, childhood, school, friends, and family. I feel that the list could go on and on. It is really an endless list. I think in my story I would want to express the idea of what happened. Also the events leading up to the idea and what actually happened. I feel that my strongest topic to write about would be my family or my horse. I think that I would relate better to these topics because they are more current in my mind. It would be really hard to write something that was from my childhood. I think this would be really hard for me.

3. I think that I would choose to talk to a ten year old. The advice I would give them is make sure you be yourself. Don’t follow in the foot steps of others. Feel free to express your thoughts and ideas. I think that my advice would be off my own experiences and what I see other kids during. I was able to be myself at school, but I see other people not being their self just to impress someone else. I think that people just need to be true to themselves. This will make you a stronger person. At the age of ten I think that is when people start to change.

Assignment # 10

1. I think that the theme is the most important part of the story. It gives the reader a chance to understand what is going on. Also it makes the reader learn a lesson from the story. When I read, I always feel there is a reason to the story. The lessons I learn from the story are wonderful. The opposing view would say that you don’t need to have a theme in your story. The reader is able to look at the words a draw their own conclusions. This gives the reader the chance to explore the text more. I wonder if drawing your own conclusion is better.

2. I think that great literary works last forever because the words a so powerful in the text. The words are powerful so that people will not forget them. It takes a long time for a person to think of those powerful words. I can’t see myself writing something that would last a lifetime because I am a person that likes to write, but would rather keep it closed. I also think I would not write a work of art because I don’t want to become a writer.

3. I think my long-lasting impact on the world would be to treat people with respect. All people should be treated with respect. It should not matter because of gender, race, and religion. It is important to me because I see people everyday not getting respected because of their race or gender. It really bothers me. I think as a writer I could have a chance to change it because I would be able to write about it. It would get published in the newspaper. These would wake people up on theses issue.
